Trick or Treat at Wilcox

Historically, Rock Ridge Elementary has not allowed costumes to be worn at school on Halloween because of the distraction it causes to instruction.  This year, a unique opportunity has developed where our students have been invited by district administration to trick or treat at the main office of the Douglas County School District (Wilcox Building).  DCSD staff will be dressed in costume and distributing treats to students K-6 at the Wilcox building. It is also our understanding that the building will be decorated for the event.

Students will be allowed to attend school on Halloween in costume in recognition of this event. (Please remember that weapons and masks are not allowed).  Costumes are not required.  Be sure to bring a bag to collect your treats as well.  A permission slip is required for each student in order to participate.  Please complete and return to your child’s teacher no later than Friday, October 26.

Should you desire your child not to participate in this event they will continue with regular instruction here at Rock Ridge elementary during the time that their respective class is at Wilcox. If a student has not submitted a permission form they will stay at Rock Ridge, continuing with regular instruction during the time that their respective class is at Wilcox.

Should you have any further questions please direct them to the front office of Rock Ridge elementary.

Sincerely,

Peter Mosby
