Gearing up for Wish Week 2021

Gearing up for Wish Week 2021
Posted on 01/25/2021
Every year Douglas County High School hosts a Wish Week event to support the Make-a-Wish Foundation, an organization that grants life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. Each year we sponsor a child in our community to provide them with an opportunity for hope and a chance to experience life beyond their illness.
This year we are excited to "Choose a Side" with Aidan, our 2021 Wish Week kid, as we grant his wish to go to Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge! Aidan is 12 years old and he was recently diagnosed with a rare disease called Loeys-Dietz Syndrome or LDS for short. LDS is a disorder that affects the connective tissues of the body and increases the risk of aneurysms in arteries such as the aorta.
Aidan loves animals (especially dogs), video games, and reading. He also likes camping, hiking, and, of course, all things Star Wars! He is considering a career in game design and, ultimately, he would love to work for The Disney World Company.
Wish Week officially begins in March, but we are already accepting donations at the link below. Please help us raise enough money to not only grant Aiden’s wish but also the wishes of many other children in our community who are struggling with critical illnesses.
