Hello RRE families:
I hope this note finds you all warm and healthy as we continue to navigate the challenges of coping with COVID and a moving target when it comes to safety procedures. I know that many of you have been significantly impacted during this time and seven more so in recent weeks. Please keep in mind that Rock Ridge will continue to support families in any way that we can and continue to follow district guidelines, including quarantine expectations.

With that said, in case you have not noticed, I have not been present at school this past week. My son began displaying COVID symptoms with the loss of taste and smell. Following district guidelines I have been placed on quarantine and cannot return to school until November 2nd. I was hoping to return earlier after testing from our doctor but that has not been the result I was hoping for. Needless to say, this has been frustrating for me not being there in person for you and your children. Luckily, Rock Ridge is full of amazing staff, including a dynamite front office and a spectacular assistant principal, Mrs. Julie Roach. (Who by the way has been nominated for the 2021 Colorado Outstanding Assistant Principal of the Year Award. Congratulations!) Thus, I have been working remotely and will continue to throughout the week. I am still reachable should you need my assistance both via email and phone.

The first week back with everyone returning to Rock Ridge (except for our e-learners) has been a huge success. Thank you Rock Ridge staff, parents and students for making this possible. I cannot tell you how impressed I am with our community and stakeholders. On an obvious note, winter has arrived in force and with some dangerous cold temperatures along with it. Please remember to bundle up your kids so that they are ready for whatever Mother Nature has in store and do not drop off your kids prior to the doors opening at 8:20am. I look forward to seeing everyone in the car loop soon as well as seeing your students when I return next week. Until then, be safe and enjoy the snow!

Sincerely, Peter Mosby Principal, Rock Ridge Elementary
