Hello RRE families:

Wow, how crazy the difference a year can make. What a relief to not only have summer so close but to be able to enjoy the spring air with the gradual lifting of mask restrictions. To say that this year has been a challenge for all of us is an understatement.

However, I cannot say enough about how grateful I am to work with an amazing staff and a fantastic community. With all of your support, patience and understanding we have managed to navigate these historical times and finish in a positive light. On behalf of the entire staff, thank you.

Next, we had another reason to celebrate here at Rock Ridge. Our esteemed counselor, Ms. McKnight, was recognized by The Foundation for Douglas County Schools and presented a check personally by their board of directors as a grant reward to support her and her mission. THANK YOU for taking the time to personally come out to Rock Ridge and give a gift that will directly benefit our students and the community. We are grateful for all the great things your foundation does for Douglas County. (Board members are: Dave Welcome, VP of Cardiovascular and Neurosciences at Sky Ridge Medical Center, Lisa Hinton (standing next to Pam Gutierrez) Director of Outpatient Services, Castle Rock Adventist Hospital/Centura Health, and Timi Aguilar, Aguilar Public Relations.

One more person that I would like to recognize is Lydia Goodland. Lydia was our PTO president for the past four years (two years as the secretary prior) and brought miraculous changes to Rock Ridge. With her innovative ideas, to-the-point communications, ability to cut through red tape, and drive towards excellence, Lydia worked with her strong PTO leaders and made a huge impact. They brought thousands and thousands of dollars into the classroom through grants, recognized our staff repeatedly through the years with innovative methods, and were just fun to work with. Thank you, Lydia, for being an amazing person.

Please also join me in welcoming Allison Uselton as our new PTO president! Allison served as the secretary for the PTO for the past two years and is ready to take the reins from Lydia and continue her legacy. Thank you Allison and I look forward to working with you.

In closing, our last day of school for students is Tuesday, May 25th. Teachers will be in the building on May 26th to close out reports and prepare classrooms for summer cleaning. The school will be closed to everyone starting Friday, May 28th for construction improvements, paid for by you and through the bond that was passed a few years ago. The front office, Ms. Roach and I will still be reachable via email, although sporadically as we all try to catch up on two summers worth of family time. Check the school website for our calendar and important dates for the upcoming year. Be safe and have a great summer!

Sincerely, Peter Mosby Principal, Rock Ridge Elementary
