May is a great month. Everything turns green, summer is around the corner, and graduations, weddings and other celebrations make Colorado a great place to be.  Rock Ridge is the best place to be with so many of our own celebrations.

First, I would like to recognize the National Archery Team that went to Utah, representing Rock Ridge and the state of Colorado. The competition was fierce with teams from all over the United States, including Alaska that had 26+competitors. What a great experience for our kids to see some outstanding shooters in action.Thank you parents for all of your support with the program as well as allowing them to participate.  Looking forward to next year at which time we will be expanding the program to include 7th and 8th grade students from Mesa! Archery club will be restarting in the fall and I am excited to see what kind of team we can put together for next year’s competition.

Next, this past week the district had the Apple Awards, recognizing outstanding teachers and classified staff members. Our very own Leah Earnest and Scottie Martin represented Rock Ridge at the gala. Congratulations and thank you for all that you do for Rock Ridge and our students.

If you have not done so already, please take the time to complete our End of Year survey. This survey helps us continue to improve how we serve students and the community by gauging what we are doing well and where we still have room to improve. Thank you in advance for taking the time (about 3 minutes) to complete the survey.

OUR TEACHERS NEED YOUR SUPPORT! As everyone is very much aware the Douglas County School District board of education is considering having a Mill Levy Override and a Bond on the next elections this coming November. If you are interested in volunteering to help us spread the message about funding challenges in the Rock Ridge Feeder and DCSD please click this link. Please note that signing up will not commit you to any dates, events, etc. We will be in touch to ask for assistance in a way that you feel comfortable with. Click here to see the needs of the Castle Rock Region, including Rock Ridge and click here for the one page funding challenge for the district. I am also attaching examples for the bond and MLO that were presented by the FOC to the DCSD Board of Education on February 20th, 2018.

A big shout out to the sixth grade hex team who represented Rock Ridge last Tuesday at the district Hexathalon. Great job competing in all the events and making all of us proud!

Thank you to everyone for another great year. I am proud to be the principal of Rock Ridge Elementary School and appreciate how we as a community and staff strive to better our students through the IB philosophy. Have a wonderful summer and I look forward to seeing you all soon.

Sincerely,
Peter Mosby
