Dear Rock Ridge Community,

Spring break is here! We welcome the snow that always makes everything green and brings us that much closer to summer. The PTO Silent Auction Spaghetti Dinner was a huge success! Thank you Lydia and Rock Ridge PTO for putting on an awesome fundraiser. They raised over $3,000, their most amount ever. These funds will go right back into the school in the form of grants and teacher appreciation week. Thank you again for supporting Rock Ridge. We are extending the time frame for our bow raffle due to our slow advertising so that we can generate more funds for the archery club. The raffle will now take place on Friday, March 29th, 2019. This is a brand-new bow from Diamond Archery. The Diamond Edge SB-1 Breakup Country with Package sells for $400.00 but it can be yours if you have the winning ticket. This is a great bow that can be used by either and adult or child with a draw weight range from 7-70lbs. Tickets are on sale now, $5 for one ticket or $20 for five tickets at the front office. All proceeds go towards the archery club so come on by and buy your ticket! With Spring arriving, we may have some challenging weather that may result in the school district calling a “delayed start” for our school day. In case you have forgotten, when the district has a delayed start, Rock Ridge Elementary will have the first bell at 10:00am with doors opening at 9:50am. BASE will also be on a 90-minute delay and all morning activities are cancelled as is morning pre-school classes and 1/2 day am kindergarten classes. Breakfast will also not be served. Please be sure that your children are well bundled and are not dropped off or sent to school any earlier than 9:50am. If the weather was severe enough to result in a delayed start, then your child could be placed in jeopardy should you bring/send them to school any earlier. State testing also known as Colorado Measures of Academic Progress (CMAS) will be taking place from April 8th-15th. (For specific dates and times for your child you can contact your teachers directly or check our website). The state testing is for grades 3rd -6th. We use this data along with other data points to modify instruction for your children so that we may meet them where they are at, including acceleration. Be sure to have your children get plenty of sleep and a good breakfast. Should you have any questions, concerns or celebrations, please feel free to contact me. I look forward to hearing from you as we set our eyes on spring.

Sincerely,
Peter Mosby, Principal
